Russell Simmons was born and raised in Houston, Texas and has had a passion for real estate since buying his first property aa a teenager, becoming a real estate agent at 21 years old and running his own brokerage firm Texas Area Properties since 1993. Russell as an investor has renovated, owned and operated more than 500 units of houses, warehouses, offices and apartments in the Houston area while simultaneously helping his clients build their own solid portfolios. Russell spends most of his time managing his portfolio, helping clients evaluate and purchase commercial properties as investments or operating their company’s real estate needs. Russell is an active board member of HAR, Former Executive Advisory Board member of the University of Houston C.T. Bauer college of Business Graduate Real Estate Program, Past President of Gulf Coast Commercial Real Estate Network and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Houston. Russell enjoys mentoring young agents and investors on how to build a solid real estate portfolio that is diversified and can withstand the market fluctuations over a long period of time. Russell and his wife have been married for 36 years and work together building new homes, renovating historical properties in the Houston market and in the past 3 years developing a passion for renovating ranches in west Texas.
